It is clear as day that Tuesdays’ terror attacks in NYC left America broken hearted. President Donald Trump issued a statement soon after, defining the doer as a “very sick and deranged person” and related the attack to the Islamic State.
“In NYC, looks like another attack by a very sick and deranged person. Law enforcement is following this closely,” Trump tweeted. “NOT IN THE U.S.A.!”
In his second tweet, the President wrote, “We must not allow ISIS to return, or enter, our country after defeating them in the Middle East and elsewhere. Enough!”
The president’s remarks on the Islamic state express his direct opinion and stance on the incident. Former President Barack Obama was a true politician when it came to commenting terrorist attacks, which ultimately cost Democrats the presidency. Because, you know what, Americans always appreciate leaders like Trump, who wear the heart on was their sleeve. Many, however, still sided with Obama’s viewpoint of terrorist attacks.
In the bloody attacks, eight people lost their lives after a terrorist slammed into a crowd of people after cutting through a bike lane. The suspect was later identified as Sayfullo Saipov, who not only exclaimed: “Allahu Akbar” — translation to “God is great” from Arabic — but also opened fire on bystanders. He was apprehended soon after by nearby police.
Saipov suffered no larger injuries in the arrest.
New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio gave a short statement on the incident, confirming, “This was an act of terror.”
