It doesn’t seem like things are going according to plan for San Juan’s mayor, Yulin Cruz. Cruz seemed to become somewhat of a progressive hero this week.
Yesterday, she blurted out one of the most passionate rants against the Puerto Rico relief efforts. She claimed that President Trump and his administration have been doing the bare minimum to aid the people of Puerto Rico.
In doing this, she gave the mainstream media the coveted opportunity to verbally burn President Trump at the stake… but unfortunately for the Left, things are not looking good for their argument
It seems that Mayor Cruz simply wanted her fifteen minutes of fame and then to go back into hiding, however, it isn’t that simple. It seems that Cruz is becoming more and more uncomfortable as her time in the spotlight continues on.
Cruz spoke to ABC News, and George Stephanopoulos questioned her as to if she had met with FEMA or not. What she said got her into a bit of a bind, and it was already known prior to this interview that Cruz had turned down chances to meet with FEMA.
After giving excuse after excuse, Mayor Cruz has no choice but to admit that she did not meet with FEMA. Her administration had done so, but she refused to attend meetings.
The Daily Wire asked, “So, ‘people from [her] administration’ have been to the federal field office, but she hasn’t? Wasn’t she, uh, elected by the people of San Juan to do just that?! Isn’t she, as mayor, in charge?!”
The fact that Cruz has admitted that she has not met with FEMA personally proves that she is completely losing all credibility.
The Washington Examiner wrote:
The mayor of a Puerto Rican city that sits next to San Juan praised the administration’s help Saturday night, and chided the “politics” of San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who has been criticizing President Trump.
In an interview with Secrets, Guaynabo Mayor Angel Perez Otero said that in several meetings with FEMA and U.S. military officials about the recovery effort, Yulin Cruz has been absent. “I’ve seen other mayors participating. She’s not,” said Perez Otero.
The mayor of a Puerto Rican city that sits next to San Juan praised the administration’s help Saturday night, and chided the “politics” of San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who has been criticizing President Trump.
The Guaynabo mayor, Perez Otero, added that he has been in contact every single day with the military along with FEMA and directly with White House officials. They have promised him that “they won’t leave until Puerto Rico is good.” Otero went on to say that one of President Trump’s top aides quoted President Trump saying that the help so far “is not enough. There is going to be more.”
It’s quite interesting that Mayor Cruz’s story differs so much from that of Mayor Otero. Mayor Cruz will continue to push her narrative in favor of the Left, but the truth is ringing clear for all to hear, and President Donald Trump is doing everything he can in order to help those suffering in Puerto Rico.
